Phillip Leonian approached photography with a scientist's brain. He would often create his own projects in order to explore technical solutions to a potential photographic problem. This series, which he called "Transcendentals", incorporated not only a moving camera and a moving figure, but also a rotating turntable. Each image was created on a single negative.
